Water-based and oil-based maintenance products differ in carrier system, spreading behavior, appearance, residue management, and compatibility with the existing surface. Neither category is automatically better for every vehicle.
Questions to ask
- Is the surface coated, waxed, bare, or already carrying unknown residue?
- Is the goal easy routine maintenance, stronger visual enhancement, or added slickness?
- Will the product be used in heat, humidity, or a controlled studio?
- Can it be applied thinly and buffed completely with the available towels?
